Lindsey Cheatham, LCPC

THERAPIST

Lindsey believes that therapy, with the right therapist, can be a transformative process where you learn about different parts of yourself and explore what growth looks like for you. Lindsey is passionate about working with queer and neurodivergent individuals and families. She also enjoys working with those who are navigating college or post college life as well as folks who experience depression, anxiety, burnout, grief, and trauma. Lindsey helps folks process past experiences and make sense of their world. She teaches folks skills in order to regulate mood and self-soothe, gain and uncover self-compassion, radically accept hard truths, and set boundaries in order to build a more aligned life for themselves. Lindsey is passionate about helping their clients deconstruct old messaging and narratives in order to come back home to their most authentic selves.

By pulling from different therapeutic modalities such DBT, CBT, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Theory, and aspects of IFS, Lindsey is able to tailor treatment to each individual and family. Lindsey takes a goal-oriented approach and works well with clients who are solution-focused and who are ready to dig deep and take an active role in the therapy process. Lindsey’s approach to therapy is warm, authentic, and relatable and leaves their clients feeling validated, accepted, and empowered to make lasting changes in their lives.

Lindsey is a LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiversity Affirming, Body-Positive, Trauma-Informed, and BIPOC allied Therapist.

Areas of Specialty

Lindsey is a queer therapist who is dedicated to supporting the mental health needs of queer, trans, and gender-diverse youth, adolescents, adults, and families. She supports clients who are either in the LGBTQIA+ community or those who are questioning / exploring parts of their sexual and/or gender-based identities. Whether you are looking to unpack queer related trauma, would like help with coming out or finding queer community, or are looking for a soft place to feel validated in your queerness, Lindsey “gets it”. Lindsey also proudly provides support to families and caregivers of LGBTQIA+ youth by offering resources, psychoeducation, and a safe space to process their own emotions about their child’s identity.

Gender and Sexuality

Lindsey enjoys working with neurodivergent, deeply feeling, or highly sensitive kids, women, and gender-diverse folks. She is passionate about teaching clients how to identify and self-advocate for their diverse needs, regulate emotions, navigate life transitions, and explore ways to create meaningful social connections and community. Lindsey offers a supportive place to process and unpack what it’s like living in a neurotypical world as a neurodivergent person, how to unmask, and how to recover from burnout. Lindsey has experience working with late diagnosed Autism and ADHD and is able to provide guidance towards diagnosis, if desired. Self-diagnosis is valid and affirmed here. Lindsey also enjoys working with parents of neurodiverse kiddos as well as neurodivergent moms.

Neurodivergence

Is your child or teen a deep feeler? Maybe they have difficulty with impulse control, emotional regulation, or navigating peer or family relationships? Lindsey loves working with elementary and middle school aged youth! Prior to private practice, Lindsey was a school-based therapist and thus has experience navigating the school system, advocating for IEP’s or 504 plans, and addressing attendance, emotional, and behavioral concerns. Lindsey also has experience and additional training in supporting childhood grief as well as processing and navigating difficult childhood experiences.

Child and Family

Outside of the therapy room, Lindsey enjoys spending time in her garden or anywhere out in nature, traveling or going camping with their wife, walking with her dog, Ruthie, and cuddling with her two cats, Jackson and Raven.
